Dana Santa awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Wittenberg Lab graduate student Dane Santa was recently awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation! Dane is a second year student who joined the lab after receiving his B.S. in biochemistry from East Stroudsburg University. This prestigious fellowship will support Dane for the next three years as he works toward his Ph.D. Dane's research focuses on the consequences of lipid oxidation on the structure lipid bilayer membranes, as well as how cholesterol modulates the engagement of scavenger receptors with oxidized phospholipids.
